Four arrested in child exploitation investigation led by Guelph Police

An investigative team led by Guelph Police aimed at combating child exploitation on the internet has arrested four men in a nearly month long investigation that started on February 11, 2014.

Two of the men are from Guelph, one 34-years-old the other 23.

They face several sexual assault related charges including making, possessing and distributing child pornography.

Police say the two males were known to the victims.

The other men involved are from the North Bay and Sudbury areas and are 44 and 27-years-old.

In total 25 criminal charges have been laid. Police expect further victims and offenders will be identified.

The assembled investigative team for project “Nickel” is led by members of the Guelph Police Service Investigative Services and includes investigators from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the OPP Technological Crime Unit, the Greater Sudbury Police Service and the North Bay Police Service.

The team is part of a Provincial Strategy to Combat Child Exploitation on the Internet.
