A potential buyout of BlackBerry may get a boost, courtesy of Revenue Canada.
The Globe and Mail reports the smartphone maker expects, what it calls, “a significant income tax refund” in the next year.
The Globe says it could be in the order of $500-million (U.S.).
The paper says that could make a buyout more attractive for potential bidders, since it would allow them to borrow less money to purchase the company.
So far, Fairfax Financial’s $4.7-billion bid is the only official offer on the table.
