Head of Communitech optimistic about BlackBerry’s future

The head of a local technology support group calls the latest developments with BlackBerry “a very good sign.”

Communitech CEO Iain Klugman tells 570 News there is obviously interest in taking the company private and he’s optimistic about its future.

He says the bid by Fairfax Financial sends an important message that BlackBerry “is still a very valuable company.”

He says it shows the company has a future, although how it will look down the road will likely be different from how it looks today or in the past.

Klugman adds, he believes going private may be the best thing for BlackBerry, allowing it to focus and “not operate in the fishbowl, which is what life as a publicly traded company is all about.”
