2pm- Oxycontin Ontario’s Health Minister- Deb Mathews is urging Ottawa to step in as Health Canada is considering approving a generic form of Oxycontin. The patent for the painkiller is set to expire soon but there are to many safety risks regarding it being generic. Matthews is encouraging her federal counterpart, Leona Aglukkaq to delay the agency in approving the generic form so they can explore all safety risks surrounding the painkiller.
