Tentative agreement reached at WLU

A tentative agreement was reached early this morning between Wilfrid Laurier University and the Faculty Association.
It appears to head off a strike involving over 500 full-time staff members; most of them professors and librarians.
The walkout could have started as early as tomorrow morning.
The agreement follows two days of mediated talks.
The deal still needs to be ratified by the university and the Faculty Association.
Laurier President Max Blouw says “We are extremely pleased to have reached a tentative settlement.”
He adds, “These are challenging times for universities and I would like to acknowledge the hard work that all parties contributed to reaching this agreement.”
Key bargaining issues included wages, pensions and teaching time.
The affected staff have been working without a contract since July, when the last one expired.
