St. Michael’s Cathedral in Toronto filled with song and prayer today, as part of a “Welcome Home” mass for newly elevated Cardinal Collins.
In a mass of Thanksgiving, Collins says being elevated is an occasion of great joy, not only for him, and his family, but for the whole faith community of the archdiocese of Toronto and for Canada, “this is, I think, a recognition of our role as a country, within the universal church through-out the world. One that is made very clear, I think, because of the important role which Canada plays in the whole world in helping and serving others.”
Cardinal Collins will celebrate masses over the next two weeks in Toronto, Pickering, Mississauga, and Woodbridge.
Guelph-native Collins was elevated to the position of Cardinal from Archbishop almost 2 week ago in Rome.
