TORONTO – Canadians are getting a taste of Target with the launch of a one-day pop-up shop in Toronto today.
Target isn’t set to open stores north of the border until next year, but the U.S. discount retailer is bringing its limited-edition Jason Wu collection to Canada for the day.
Wu will be in attendance at a pop-up shop at 363 King St. W. in downtown Toronto which is slated to open to the public at noon.
The Vancouver-raised designer created the white, one-shouldered gown worn by Michelle Obama for the inauguration of her husband, U.S. President Barack Obama.
Target will donate an amount equal to 100 per cent of the sales from the event to United Way Toronto.
The Minneapolis-based retailer plans to open 125 to 135 stores in Canada beginning in 2013.
Locally, there will be Target stores opening up in Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Stratford, Fergus, Hamilton and London.
