Large fire west of Guelph

Guelph Fire battled high winds in a major fire on Highway 24 at Wellington Road 32.
Fire officials tell 570 News the blaze broke out Saturday afternoon at a building used for constructing wooden pallets.
Acting Platoon Chief David Patterson tells 570 News it was a “structure fire, it was a steel clad building.”
Patterson said the building was destroyed and the cause of the fire is officially going down as “undetermined,” said Patterson, but there is a possibility an illegally installed wood-stove could have played into it.
Patterson said, “the devastation prevented us from getting anything definitive.”
No people were hurt, but Patterson indicated the owner kept “a couple of dogs that couldn’t escape and that is always unfortunate.”
Crews stayed on scene through Sunday morning to extinguish the blaze. The damage is estimated at $300,000.
