Another local tech star

Another local tech company is a rising star in the high tech world.

The Globe and Mail talks to several experts about one of Waterloo Region’s ‘other’ high tech heavyweights: Open Text.

Unlike Research in Motion, which has seen it’s share values retreat in recent months, Open Text has experienced 30% annual earnings growth for the past five years, and that has not gone unnoticed by investors.

Cormark Securities analyst Richard Tse, for one, is high on the company’s stock.

He tells the paper “What we continue to hear from many of the company’s important partners is that the broad-product momentum continues to grow and to that point, we are surprised by how much opportunity Open Text has, even with existing customers.”

National Bank Financial analyst Kris Thomson says, when it comes to its stock values, “there’s only upside.”

Open Text releases its latest earnings report after the markets close tomorrow.
