Aud neighbours concerned about parking

City of Kitchener officials met with residents living around the Kitchener Aud Wednesday evening, for a public input session on the proposed Aud expansion.
Most said they thought the expansion would be a good thing overall but they wanted the issue of parking to be addressed.
Dave told 570 News, “Right now, I just live on a side street and we have parking concerns as it is with people blocking driveways…other than that, I really don’t care. I think it’s a terrific idea.”
Caroline is new to the neighbourhood and says she was aware about the potential expansion before she moved in. “It is what it is,” she says. “But it just has to be done right, that’s all. I just worry about parking, that’s all I worry about for people.”
The Rangers are looking to add 1,000 seats to the Aud, bringing its capacity to almost 7,800. The expansion would also include a third-level concourse, concessions, washrooms and renovated team space. The project would cost $9.6 million, money that the club would borrow from the city and pay back over 15 years.
This public meeting was the second is as many days. Tuesday evening, the Rangers held an information session for fans and subscribers to provide an update on the project.
The proposal goes before a city committee on November 7th, and a final vote is expected on November 14th.
