What does a minority government mean for education?

The newly formed Liberal minority government will not have much of an effect on the education sector, that is at least according to University of Waterloo President Feridun Hamdullahpur.
The issues surrounding the educational system revolve around demands for more post secondary spaces but at the same time ensuring that the same quality of of education is being maintained. Hamdullahpur says that as long as those issues are being talked about with the newly formed government, like they were with the last, minority or majority should not matter.
“I don’t think that it is going to make a huge difference, whether it’s a majority government or a minority government for our sector.”
He says that all parties have acknowledged the issues surrounding the education sector and believes the parties will work together to get things done.
“These are real issues with opportunities and challenges. I believe that which ever form of government we have they will continue to be very serious issues. I think at the end of the day, I believe we all understand the importance of post secondary education for the future of this province.”
Hamdullahpur notes that we need to make sure the quality of education that our Universities provide is maintained.
