NDP-Atinuke Bankole
A teacher by profession, Ms. Bankole ran for Regional Council last fall. She volunteers at the Chaplin Family’s YMCA of Cambridge Step Up to Leadership program, and is a strong supporter of the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank and the Waterloo Region Food Bank. Bankole moved to Canada when she was 10.

Ontario Libertarian Party-Allan Dettweiler
A long-time resident of Cambridge, he grew up in Preston and went to Central Public School – which later became Preston Public. Mr. Dettweiler operates a website that provides genealogical details of the descendants of some of the region’s earliest pioneers that includes more two hundred thousand names. He currently works as a courier driver.

PC-Rob Leone
Born and raised in Cambridge, Leone teaches political science at Laurier University. Leone is looking to succeed long-time PC M.P.P. Gerry Martiniuk, who retired after serving since 1995. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in political science from McMaster University and a master’s in public policy from the University of Guelph. Leone recently edited a book titled “Approaching Public Policy: Core Debates and Emerging Issues.”

Green-Jacques Malette
Malette is running for the Green party provincially, after running federally in the last Canadian general election. The Mississauga-born Malette moved to Cambridge at age 14. A graduate of St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School, he has worked in a number of trades, and is currently a production supervisor at Canadian Solar. Malette is a former volunteer for Cambridge Youth Soccer and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cambridge.

Liberal-Kathryn McGarry
McGarry has lived in Cambridge since 1988, where she has been active in cultural heritage and municipal planning. She has sat on the board of directors for Heritage Cambridge. McGarry places priority on high-quality health care. She cites what she calls her strong record on health care and says the expansion of Cambridge Memorial Hospital is a very important issue in this election campaign.
