Forest fire evacuees arriving in Arthur

200 people from the Sandy Lake First Nation will arrive in Arthur later this afternoon.
They were forced to leave their homes because of forest fires in northwestern Ontario.
They are scheduled to arrive in Toronto over the noon hour and should be in Arthur by 4 or 5pm.
Once there, they will find shelter at the Arthur Community Centre.
County of Wellington Communications Officer, Andrea Ravensdale says the evacuees are expected to stay for a minimum of two weeks.
The town decided Tuesday it would be able to help out.
Ravensdale tells 570 News they just received word this morning that the evacuees would be coming.
With the help of the Canadian Red Cross, 200 cots have been set up in the community centre where there are also shower facilities and hot meals will be served as well.
The township wants to remind businesses that First Nations people are tax exempt.
Some of the evacuees are also expected to come to Waterloo Region at some point but that is not expected to happen today.
