A Kitchener company is becoming the exclusive provider of digital projectors for Cineplex Entertainment in Canada.
Cineplex has announced that Christie Digital Systems will be providing 900 projectors to be installed in its Canadian theatres over the next 18 months.
In a release, Cineplex President and CEO, Ellis Jacob says, “Cineplex selected Christie…because we believe their technology is the best in the business…”
Christie President Gerry Remers tells 570 News, his company is pleased to become the exclusive provider to Cineplex and adds, “The thing about Christie projectors is that I would call them the brightest projectors. They’re very high end systems and so, we kind of exist on that very high end of the projection industry.”
Remers wouldn’t say what the deal is worth but says each of the projectors costs about as much as a mid-sized luxury car.
Christie employs about 700 people in Kitchener. Remers says the company did about $700 million in global business last year.
