Mayfair Hotel plans Presented to Kitchener Council

The redevelopment of the Mayfair Hotel has been moved from the third phase of Kitchener’s City Centre development into the first phase. It will become a boutique hotel featuring a number of food and drink establishments.
Kitchener Council saw a presentation from Andrin Homes last night, where President of the company Peter Smith described some of the plans, “we have a concept of a food and beverage concept on the rooftop that would be wonderful for this community. On the main floor there will be a restaurant concept that will be geared toward the daytime crowd”, ” there will also be more of a traditional bar concept in the back, we also have plans for an entertainment complex room in the basement that would be the link to some of the arts & culture things that we could tie into the downtown”.
Smith told council that construction is planned to begin in the spring “and hopefully we are targeting to be open early 2013. Obviously there are a lot of things that come into play, but that’s what we’re hoping for at this point.”
Partnered with Andrin in the reconstruction of this heritage building are Kitchener Entrepreneur David Strucke, Partner in the Charcoal Group of Restaurants, Jodi Palubiski and Ridgewood Holdings’ Bernie Nimer.
