Mandatory pre-season concussion testing

The Guelph Minor Hockey Association is planning to do mandatory pre-season concussion testing.
They’ve partnered with the Canadian Medical Research Group who uses a system called ImPACT: Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing.
If your child wants to play hockey for the GMHA, they must go online and take a concussion test before the season starts. The test is $25 dollars, takes about 25 minutes. It tests memory, problem solving, attention span and reaction time among other things.
This gives the league a baseline test that they can look back at if the child suffers a concussion during the season. The child will then take the test again, and will not be allowed to return to action until their results matched; meaning that they’re fully healed and back to normal.
The CMRG is expected to make a presentation to Kitchener and Waterloo Minor Hockey Associations in the upcoming weeks.
