Goodbye fallen heroes

Thousands bared the frigid wind to pay tribute to two fallen firefighters in Listowel yesterday.
The funeral for Ken Rea and Ray Walter was an emotional affair — a procession of thousands of firefighters and Police officers lined the street leading up to the Memorial Arena, where the joint service was held.
570’s Hayley Zimak was there and files this report.
Ken’s daughters were overcome with emotion when they spoke about their Dad – someone who was always willing to help.
Premier Dalton McGuinty is among those paying tribute to Ray Walter, 30, and Ken Rea, 56, who died last week after a burning store collapsed on them.
McGuinty told the service that both men are “nothing less than heroes” who, when called to service, stepped forward and said “here I am, send me.”
Hundreds of uniformed firefighters and police officers from across Ontario stood at attention as the flag-covered caskets were brought inside Memorial Arena in Listowel.
A friend of Walter’s told the service that he had followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming a volunteer firefighter.
