Is your car storm-ready?

Winter is gearing up to take another swing at us later today and into tomorrow.

Allstate Canada spokesperson Tony Erwin tells 570 News that knowing your vehicle’s capabilities is essential to your safety.

Snow tires, four-wheel drive, and anti-lock brakes all greatly affect how your car drives in the snow.

He adds, one of the most common – and sometimes lethal – mistakes drivers make is only wiping snow off from their windows.

Failing to properly clean off your car can not only lead to snow blowing onto other vehicles, but also greatly reducing your visibility.

Another key safety tip is stocking your car with an emergency safety kit.

Erwin says a kit includes blankets, flashlights, candles, batteries, extra clothing, bottled water, and non-perishable food.
