Standoff in Waterloo

Police were involved in an armed standoff with a Waterloo man yesterday.

It happened on Northlake Drive in Waterloo when police were called to a house regarding a domestic disturbance late last night.

The 22 year old man fled the scene before police arrived.

Police later found him with an unspecified weapon and arrested him.

The man faces several charges including robbery and assault with a weapon.

While in custody he was admitted to hospital by a doctor as he appeared to be suffering from hypothermia and mental health issues.

He has been Charged with numerous offences including assault, assault with weapon, robbery, mischief and two counts of breach of probation.

Police say that this incident resulted from a family dispute.

Their will be a bail hearing later today.
