Six escape house fire

Kitchener Fire and Regional Police are on the scene of an early-morning house fire today.
Police say six family members managed to escape safely from the blaze on Windermere Court, in the Ira Needles-Highland Road area of Kitchener.
Fire officials at the scene say the call came in just before three o’clock this morning.
It’s believed the fire started in the garage and made its way into the walls and roof.
Firefighters had to punch holes in the roof to get to the lingering hot spots — insulation from inside the roof is scattered across the lawn and garage.
Fire officials tell 570 News damage is estimated at $100,000 to the structure of the home, another $100,000 for contents damage.
