Light on the Longest Night

There will be a chance for some quiet reflection tonight in Waterloo Region.
Parkminster United Church at 275 Erb Street East is one of a number of local church that will be holding a Longest Night service.
The candlelit service at Parkminster begins at 7-pm.
Minister, Cindo Peterson tells 570 News the symbolism on holding it on this night is, even in the greatest darkness there is light and a sign of hope.
Peterson says often people who have suffered a death of someone close and find themselves out of place with all the signs of joy around them.
She adds the service is meant to nurture their souls and the message is one of care and support.
Everyone is welcome.
There will also be a Longest Night service at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, at 49 Blueridge Ave. in Kitchener, at 7:00 o’clock.
