Our first real dumping of snow and ice is throwing many drivers off on the roads.
Waterloo Regional Police say they responded to 95 collisions in the last 24 hours, six of which involved minor injuries.
Cambridge OPP say they too were overwhelmed with calls this morning about jack-knifed tractor trailers and cars in ditches.
It’s a frustrating situation for some drivers who say they are making an effort to go slow and take their time, while others continue to speed and brake too quickly for the conditions.
Vicki Kannapin, a Regional Trainer with Young Drivers of Canada says
motorists need to start braking early in order to control the traffic behind them and leave some space in front.
She also suggests taking a look at the road conditions before you leave and not waiting until the 11th hour to get your vehicle ready for winter.
