Underage drinking charges up

Police laid more charges for underage drinking during their annual Project Safe Semester blitz in Waterloo.

Over 100 charges were laid this year compared to 86 in 2009.

Officials say that was likely due to increased enforcement efforts.

Over the course of the project, 827 federal, provincial and municipal by-law charges were laid largely related to the Liquor Licence Act and City of Waterloo public nuisance and noise by-law complaints.
