We returned to Standard Time early this morning, meaning you turned your clock back one hour and also meaning you got an extra hour of sleep.
James MacFarlane with the Canadian Sleep Society tells 570’s Gary Doyle Show says the fall change is much easier on the body than the spring one, when we lose one hour of sleep.
MacFarlane is not so sure he agrees with a U-K researcher who suggests if we scrap the fall change it would improve our overall health.
The reason is the extra hour of daylight would encourage more physical activity outdoors.
MacFarlane points out studies show the spring time change often results in more accidents on the roads and in the workplace due to a lack of sleep.
he calls the fall time change a “bit of a bonus” because we do get that extra hour of sleep.
