Canada’s top soldier says the military is working as “quickly as possible” to remove Colonel Russell Williams from its ranks.
Williams pleaded guilty today in Belleville to murders, sexual assaults and a string of shocking fetish break and enters.
The charge sheet was so lengthy it took nearly 40 minutes to read it into the court record.
General Walter Natynczyk says a formal conviction in the case will allow the military to begin the process to release him from the Canadian Forces.
Col. Williams was relieved of his command at C-F-B Trenton following charges being laid in February, but he retained his rank while the legal process played out.
He also reportedly collected his 12-thousand-dollar-a-month salary while behind bars, but military officials have said that would be clawed back if he was convicted.
