A tragic weekend on Wellington County roads.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they were called to crash involving a 16-year-old pedestrian and a minivan on Saturday, Sept. 19 just after midnight.
The teen boy from Puslinch was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
It happened just outside of Fergus on Wellington Road 29 south of Eramosa-Garafraxa Town Line.
How the crash happened is still under investigation. In an email to CityNews Kitchener, OPP said they were aware of some information being shared online.
“We are asking members of the public to refrain from sharing or posting any unverified information, photos or videos related to this case,” said OPP spokesperson Constable Matthew Burton.
“We recognize that this incident has deeply affected the community and that many people may be sharing information in an effort to help or support the investigation. However, sharing unconfirmed information can compromise the integrity of the investigation, influence witness accounts and hinder efforts to identify and hold those responsible accountable.”
The driver of the minivan stayed at the scene of the crash. No charges have been laid as the investigation continues.
