Twenty thousand tonnes of leaves and yard waste are up for grabs today at landfills in Waterloo and Cambridge.
Program coordinator Clark Reichert says each household can take five bushels. Each bushel is about the size of a blue box.
Residents must also bring a shovel and container.
Last year, about 25 hundred people took advantage of the compost giveaway day, picking up more than 15 hundred tonnes of soil.
