The warmest August in 60 years has come and gone with a bang.
We posted a record high yesterday of 32.5 degrees, breaking the old mark set in 1973.
But 570 News Weather Specialist John Wilson says the month will be remembered as one of consistent heat.
We only set two record highs – the one yesterday and a new one on Monday.
He says we never had one day this past month when the high temperature was below 21.
August was two full degrees above normal.
It was also very dry with only 30% of the normal rainfall for August.
As for today – the first day of a new month…Wilson says the heat will stay.
The humidex and smog advisories continue. Today it will be sunny in the morning, with increasing afternoon cloud. Hot and humid with a rising risk of scattered showers or a thunderstorm forming in the late afternoon or evening. The guaranteed high is 31 degrees, and the record for the day is 31.7 set back in 1973.
As for tonight – still hazy and very warm with a chance of a shower or thundershower. The low will be 17.
