Another scorcher

August will go down as the hottest one in 60 years in Waterloo Region.
That is according to stats released on Monday by the University of Waterloo Weather Station.
The average temperature was over 2.5 degrees above average.
Weather station officials say we still have not seen a month this year that has been below average, making this the warmest first 8 months of the year since 1998, which was the hottest year on record in the area.
It was also a dry month with just under 33 mm of precipitation, the average is 87 mm.
And according to 570 News Weather Specialist John Wilson – the heat continues today.
Wilson is calling for the humidex and smog advisories to continue. Today will be mostly sunny, hot and humid with a few building clouds this afternoon and a high of 32. With the humidex it will feel like 40. The record temperature is 31.7 from back in 1973.
Tonight will be clear with haze and very warm with the low going down to just 19 degrees.
For Wednesday we’ll see a mix of sun and increasing afternoon clouds, hot and humid with a rising risk of scattered showers or a thunderstorm forming in the evening and overnight. Wilson is calling for a high of 31 degrees on Wednesday which would challenge the record of 31.7 set in 1973.
For Thursday, mainly cloudy with showers and a high of 27. Friday, a mix of sun and cloud, windy and cooler the high 22.
