It has been another tragic weekend on the water in southern Ontario.
On Lake Erie, 18-year-old Christopher Alkerton of Niagara Falls drowned yesterday at a Rock Point provincial park. The young man was a short distance from shore when he disappeared below the surface.
On Saturday, a 31-year-old Toronto man, Bun Chang Tang, drowned in Wasaga Beach after running into the water to catch a ball.
In Gravenhurst, an 84-year-old man who went swimming never returned and police later found the body of George Herczeg in the water near a dock.
A 54-year-old man died on Chemong Lake near Peterborough early yesterday after his boat crashed into two docks and several other boats.
The driver, Paul Heffernan, was thrown from the boat along with a female passenger, who survived.
An 18-month old baby is in Sick Kids Hospital after being pulled from a pond in Ajax yesterday morning.
Durham region police have not identified the child, or its gender, or commented on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A boy is in critical condition after being pulled from a pool in Niagara Falls on Saturday night.
Family members performed C-P-R and he was transferred to a hospital in Buffalo, New York.
A man is in stable condition after being run over by a motor boat in the Ottawa River.
He fell out of the boat and then was run over by the vessel leaving him with deep cuts from the prop.
More than a dozen people have already drowned in pools and lakes in the province so far this summer.
