Ultimate upset

Two Canadian NHL teams are off to the semi-finals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Montreal Canadiens completed a huge upset with a 2-1 victory over Washington in Game 7 last night.

The Capitals were the NHL’s best team in the regular season.

Montreal is the first number-8 seed to erase a 3-1 series deficit against a top seed since the NHL switched to the current playoff format in 1994.

There was a large and loud street party in downtown Montreal after the game which police let go on for about two hours before breaking it up.

The Habs open the semi-finals in Pittsburgh tomorrow night.

Vancouver advanced by disposing of the Kings.

The Canucks open the next round in Chicago on Saturday night.
