It seems the coaches aren’t the only ones left fuming by the officiating they’re seeing in the OHL’s Western Conference Final series between Kitchener and Windsor.
Many fans are venting their frustrations online. Numerous posts on forum message boards slam the men wearing black and white. The emotion ranges from anger – “Last night was so inconsistent it wasn’t even funny.” to sarcasm – “I’m glad to see the officiating hasn’t changed in the playoffs still always the talk of the game.”
Rangers Head Coach Steve Spott stated in a post-game interview that he’d rather have kept ill referee Brent Holdsworth in the game than replace him with a healthy Scott Ferguson.
570 News has also learned the OHL fined Spott one thousand dollars for his comments.
But, OHL Director of Officiating Conrad Hache tells 570 News that the league is fairly satisfied with the officiating in the series, although he admits “with the official getting ill during an intense game 4 it was probably difficult for the incoming ref to be physically and mentally ready to go.”
