Over 30 people charged under cellphone ban

Waterloo Regional Police say they have issued 31 tickets so far under the new Distracted Driving Law.

It went into effect last Monday.

The Head of Traffic Services, Staff Sergeant Scott Diefenbaker tells 570’s Jeff Allan Show some people just haven’t got the message.

In fact, Diefenbaker says that was one of the excuses from a driver, that they hadn’t heard about the new law.

The fine is $155, but no demerit points.
