“Help Haiti” in Guelph tonight

Musicians in Guelph will raise their voices in song this weekend as they work to help victims of last months earthquake in Haiti.

Help Haiti: A Guelph Benefit Concert for Earthquake Relief
will take place at the River Run Centre beginning at 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Organizer Sam Turton tells 570 News it’s important for a community to come together to express their support for the world at large.

The benefit concert will feature a wide selection of local talent including, Kevin Breit & Ted Warren, Scott Merritt, Jane Bunnett, Dionne Brand, University of Guelph Choirs and The Guelph Music Revue – a group of renowned and award-winning musicians, band leaders, and singer-songwriters who will accompany each other on a selection of originals and inspirational classics designed to bring everyone together in song.

The benefit was also organized by Rev. Paul Clarkson, the Minister of Three Willows United Church and Dr. Ajay Hebl, a professor at U of G and founder and Artistic Director of The Guelph Jazz Festival.

The goal of the benefit is to raise $20,000 for the Canadian Red Cross.

Tickets are $30.00.
