Response to a proposed action sports park in Waterloo has been overwhelming.

Waterloo is looking at three possible locations: on Father David Bauer Drive by the Recreation Complex, at the corner of Erb and Caroline and in Waterloo Park.

Landscape Architect for the City of Waterloo Karen Anderson provided an update to council last night.

She tells 570 News a Facebook site has been set up by supporters and it boasts 600 members.

She says they’ve also gathered input from other members of the community including residents of Luther Village.

The park would be for skateboarders and BMX enthusiasts.

The final site could be selected at the February 22nd council meeting.

Ideally, they’d like to open it this year, but there’s still the design process and construction so it appears the earliest it could open is this October.
