The Kitchener-Waterloo amalgamation debate is dead, but not forgotten.
A week ago, Waterloo City Council shot down a proposal to have a question placed on the fall municipal election ballot that would have asked residents if they favoured merger discussions with Kitchener.
Tonight, Waterloo City Councillor Jan d’Ailly will table a Notice of Motion proposing council recommend the next council start a community dialogue process.
It would be aimed at addressing several issues including the pros and cons of the current system as well as possible solutions to problems.
d’Ailly maintains they don’t need a referendum to have a discussion, but they do need a tool to identify ways to make the system more effective.
