Empire putting ten screens in Waterloo

A second big name tenant has been confirmed for a major retail and commercial development in Waterloo.
Empire Theatres has announced plans to build a 41,000 square foot, ten screen theatre complex at the development underway at Ira Needles Boulevard and University Avenue in Waterloo.
Wal-Mart was announced last week as the only other major tenant named for the development to date.
The massive retail-commercial complex will cover more than one million square feet and straddle the Kitchener and Waterloo border in the west end of the cities.
Ira Needles Commercial Centre president Greg Voisin confirms to 570 News that several more well-known tenants will eventually be part of the development but says he is not at liberty to provide details.
Voisin says the development will include 75-100 tenants and 28 different buildings, with construction beginning late this spring or summer.
He expects the first retailers to be open for business in December.
Empire says it will also be renovating its 12-screen complex in Kitchener this year.
