Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive is in Montreal today for an international conference on rebuilding his earthquake-shattered country.
Foreign ministers from around the world, including U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, will gather in the city to discuss rebuilding the earthquake-ravaged country.
Eight international bodies, including banks, and six major non-governmental organizations will also be represented at the conference.
Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon calls the talks a critical step on Haiti’s long road to recovery.
Bellerive arrived in Ottawa yesterday and was welcomed by Prime Minister Harper.
Meantime, a flight carrying 24 orphaned Haitian children arrived in Ottawa Sunday morning.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says those adopting the children were contacted over the weekend about their arrival.
