Two mayors are showing their support for amalgamation, as their Councils get ready to vote on a recommendation Monday.
The recommendation is for a question to be put on the next election ballot.
It would ask voters if they would be open to discussing amalgamation between Kitchener and Waterloo.
Kitchener Mayor Carl Zehr tells 570 News he’d still like to see all three cities and the four townships involved.
Zehr says if it isn’t going to be some sort of one-tier system, the option of Kitchener-Waterloo should be explored.
Waterloo Mayor Brenda Halloran also says she will support this latest effort.
Councils in both cities will listen to a direct appeal on Monday night.
