U.S. defeats Canada at world juniors 6-5

The start was good for Canada – the ending – not so good.
Team Canada saw their string of five straight world junior hockey championships come to an end last night.
The U.S. took home the gold medal this year, with a 6-5 overtime win over Canada at the final in Saskatoon.
Canada struck first against the U.S. with a goal by Luke Adam in the first period, but by the third the U.S. lead 5-3.
With just under three minutes left in the final period Saskatchewan’s Jordan Eberle scored twice for Canada sending the game into overtime.
Eberle says the Canadians “battled back the whole game,” adding the loss is “definitely hard to swallow.”
John Carlson scored the winning goal for the U.S. sending our Canadians home with silver.
Earlier yesterday Sweden won bronze after a 11-4 win over Switzerland.
