A local police officer has been charged following an off-duty incident in Toronto.

It stemmed from a collision in the Power Street and Adelaide Street area on Friday shortly after 12 a.m.

“As a result of the investigation, the officer has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Over 80,” said a release from the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

The three-year WRPS member has been suspended with pay and will appear in court on January 13.
