Fire at a hotel in Guelph sends 1 to hospital

One person has been sent to hospital after a fire broke out at a hotel in Guelph.

Guelph police said emergency officials responded to the former Holiday Inn Express on Silvercreek Parkway on Friday due to the fire.

The fire was extinguished over the noon hour and there are no further details on the person who was taken to hospital, except they were rescued from the building.

Guelph Fire Chief Brian Arnold told CityNews 570 it’s not clear where the fire broke out within the hotel or how it started.

The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Guelph Police Service and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.
