OPP officer facing assault charge in relation to off-duty incident

An officer with Ontario Provincial Police is facing an assault charge in connection with an off-duty incident.

The charge was laid by Waterloo Regional Police.

The alleged incident happen October 1 in the area of Highway 85 and Sawmill Road in Woolwich Township.

Constable Ken Araujo, who is a 14-year-member of the provincial force, was arrested on Oct. 23 and released on an undertaking.

He is set to appear in a Kitchener court on December 9.

Since the matter is now before the court, Waterloo Regional Police say they will not be releasing any further information.
