UW’s Tre Ford moves up CFL draft depth chart

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The reigning Hec Crighton Award winner is in a good spot with the 2022 CFL draft just a few weeks away.

University of Waterloo quarterback Tre Ford is ranked fourth in the final spring prospect list released by the Canadian Football League’s Scouting Bureau on Tuesday. He was sixth in the winter rankings.

Ford was named the most valuable player in U SPORTS football back in December.

He finished in the top 10 of both passing and rushing in the country.

Receiver John Metchie III of the Alabama Crimson Tide, who's from Brampton, is the top prospect, followed by Ottawa's Jesse Luketa, a linebacker at Penn State and another Brampton product, Tyrell Richards, who last played at Syracuse University.

The draft is scheduled for May 3.
