Stolen vehicle destroyed near nature path in Kitchener

A vehicle was burnt to a crisp in the trees beside a busy Kitchener intersection, and police confirm it was stolen.

It happened Wednesday morning in Steckle Woods, near Homer Watson Boulevard and Bleams Road. Officials said that the vehicle was initially found “fully engulfed in flames with major significant damage.”

Firefighters with the Kitchener Fire Department had the flames out by 7:30 a.m.

Later that night, police confirmed the burnt vehicle had been stolen.

It was towed away from a cleared-out circular area in the trees, about 20 metres off the walking trail at the popular local nature site.

People were walking their dogs down the path as the tow truck was hauling away the charred body of the vehicle.

Police say they are still investigating.
