After a minor setback at home Thursday, the Kitchener Panthers (11-4) bounced back 24 hours later.
The Panthers took the 5-3 road win over the Hamilton Cardinals (4-6) Friday night.
It was a slow start, as the Cardinals snagged all three of runs in the first inning.
Panthers starter Christian Hauck settled down afterwards, striking out 11 batters in six innings of work.
He surrendered nine hits, three walks but no earned runs to keep his ERA at 1.32, second in the IBL.
The Panthers helped their starter in the fourth, clawing back with three runs of their own, including a two-run home run from Brian Burton.
Burton led the way overall with a three-for-four evening.
Mike Gordner was also red-hot for the visitors, with three hits on five plate appearances.
Miguel Lahera got his third save of the season for Kitchener, striking out two in two innings.
The two teams meet again Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch Park for Father’s Day.
