Winter storm warning now issued for Waterloo Region (update)

Significant snowfall is expected in southern Ontario starting late Friday.

A winter storm watch was in effect for Waterloo Region, but it has now been upgraded to a winter storm warning.

Environment Canada is projecting 20 to 30 cm of snowfall, with snowfall rates of 5 to 8 cm/h possible.

The snow is expected to develop Friday afternoon evening and will continue into Saturday morning.

Heavy snow will be coupled with strong winds which could create reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions.
