Summer to arrive, bring the heat on Tuesday

By Germain Ma

The first day of summer will fittingly arrive with some hot, sticky air.

The season officially begins Tuesday, June 21 at 5:13 a.m.

“A great big ridge, a dome of heat's been building over the central US, the central plains. Now, that dome of heat's beginning to slide eastwards and we're going to see the results of it,” said CityNews Weather Specialist, John Wilson.

Daytime high on Tuesday is expected to hit 33 degrees and feel like 38 degrees with the humidity.

That's shy of 1953's record 34.4 degrees.

“Then, we don't get too much relief until Wednesday with a noon-hour cold front, which will only knock it down to 31. Then, 27 Thursday. So, even when a cold front comes by, it won't be as cool behind that,” said Wilson.

Temperatures Friday and into the weekend will hang around the high twenties.
