A special weather statement has been issued for Waterloo Region and surrounding areas for Thursday.
Environment Canada has advised that freezing rain, heavy rainfall, and strong winds are in the forecast.
Rainfall amounts could total 15 to 25 mm, while wind gusts could reach 60 to 80 km/h.
The freezing rain is anticipated to develop Thursday morning before transitioning to regular rain, which will taper off Thursday night. The strong wind gusts are expected in the afternoon and early evening.
Roadways and walkways could become icy and slippery, and isolated power outages and localized flooding are both possible.
