Special weather statement in effect for Waterloo Region

By Luke Schulz

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Waterloo Region & Wellington County, warning of both snow and a mix of precipitation possible on Monday.

The weather authority said snow is forecasted across southwestern Ontario on Monday morning, continuing for a few hours before potentially turning to ice pellets or freezing rain.

That precipitation is forecast to end or turn to a light drizzle / freezing drizzle by Monday afternoon with temperatures near or just above zero.

Snow accumulation of up to five centimetres is possible, as well as some icy conditions likely to impact the Monday morning commute.
